The instrument,
documented.
Every value on this page is load-bearing. Where a decision is not covered here, take the quieter option — that is the rule, not a fallback.
01 Doctrine
Four rules. They govern every ambiguous decision, and they outrank taste.
-
Silence is the luxury
80%+ of any viewport is empty or field. Density is what everyone else does.
-
Metadata as ornament
The only decoration permitted is real information — coordinates, indices, versions — set in mono.
-
One Pulse per surface
The accent appears exactly once per viewport. A second instance is a bug. On field surfaces it is emitted by the simulation and printed only on the mark — see 08.
-
The shear belongs to the logo
Never shear photography, headlines, or panels. One signature device, used once.
02 Palette
Four values and a hairline. There is no secondary palette, and no tints beyond the opacities listed.
| Token | Value | Applied to |
|---|---|---|
| --hair | rgba(242,243,245,0.08) | Every border and divider, 1px |
| --hair-strong | rgba(242,243,245,0.15) | Hairline buttons only |
| --grid-line | rgba(242,243,245,0.04) | The two vertical grid rules |
| selection | rgba(110,86,248,0.25) | Text selection |
| veil | 0 1px 12px rgba(14,15,18,0.6) | Text over the field. Nothing heavier |
03 The mark
Two copies of the wordmark, each clipped to one half, offset in opposite directions with a Pulse seam on the join. Aligned is before; sheared is after. It never snaps back — that is the whole argument of the brand, executed in geometry.
| Property | Law |
|---|---|
| Offset | Exactly 10% of font-size (0.1em). Never more. |
| Direction | Top half moves left, bottom half moves right. Always. |
| Seam | scaleX(progress), 2px, Pulse, 12px overhang each side. |
| Tracking | 0.06em, weight 500, uppercase. |
| Trigger | Both marks shear together, 300ms after load. One beat, one component — the nav mark and the hero mark are never in different states. |
| Latch | One-way. Reaching progress 1 is permanent for the session. |
| Reduced motion | Render statically at progress 1. |
04 Type
Two families, four weights total. No third typeface, ever.
Built once. Runs itself.
Zyrn builds the operating core of modern firms.
From org chart to inference layer, measured and versioned.
SYS.02 — INTELLIGENCE LAYER / AMM 31.95°N / 35.93°E
05 Motion law
Motion is scroll-driven. Nothing loops, nothing autoplays, and nothing moves that the reader did not move themselves.
| System | Value | Reads as |
|---|---|---|
| Scrub smoothing | 1 − e^(−5·dt) | Mass and machinery, not UI |
| Reveal | 700ms cubic-bezier(.22,1,.36,1) | Machined into place |
| Reveal clip | inset(0 0 18% 0) → 0 | Cut, not floated |
| Shear | 650ms cubic-bezier(.83,0,.17,1) | A mechanism throwing |
| UI transitions | 300ms | Responsive, unremarkable |
| Parallax | scale 1 → 1.04 | Subliminal push-in |
| Shear range | first 220px of scroll | The opening gesture |
05b The glitch
A transmission artefact on a signal that is already sheared. It never un-shears anything: every layer is applied to a wrapper or to a throwaway clone, so the latched halves underneath are untouched by definition.
| Layer | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Jolt | translate ±6px, skew ±1.6°, steps(1) |
| Chroma | text-shadow split, Pulse / #33C9DE, up to 5px |
| Slices | 2 cloned ghosts, clip-path bands, ±11px |
| Scan | 2px Pulse line + 1px cyan line, opposed |
| Burst | 300ms full / 130ms micro (42% of fires) |
| Schedule | 1.8–5.2s gaps; 62% double, 22% triple |
| Reduced motion | no glitch at all |
A fixed interval reads as a metronome, which is the opposite of a glitch. Real artefacts cluster: mostly quiet, then two or three in quick succession. Each mark keeps its own randomised schedule, and marks that are off screen never fire.
06 Voice
Declarative, specific, and short. The brand does not sell; it states terms.
- “It installs the system and stays until it runs.”
- “Every engagement opens on a number.”
- “Four engagements a quarter. The constraint is deliberate.”
- Real figures, indices, and dates as ornament.
- Exclamation marks, or any superlative.
- “Cutting-edge”, “revolutionary”, “seamless”, “unlock”.
- Claims of outcomes the index cannot show.
- Faces, stock portraits, or team photography.
07 Layout
| Rule | Value |
|---|---|
| Horizontal gutter | clamp(20px, 4vw, 48px) |
| Section padding | 110px top / 56–64px bottom |
| Section height | min 100svh |
| Grid rules | 33.333% and 66.666%, hidden below md |
| Panel | radius 8px, 1px hairline, obsidian 60%, blur 2px |
| Button radius | 4px |
| Scene beat | 30vh after the hero, 18vh thereafter |
08 The field
SYS.07. A 90,000-point GPU simulation is the bed on every surface of the site. It is not footage, and there is no asset behind it — the page renders its own subject. Full spec in docs/spec-presence-field.md.
Ramp
Four stops, exposed as shader uniforms. The shipped ramp is vivid: it puts a green-teal at the cold end so the field travels through hue, not only through luminance. Pulse remains the anchor and the dominant stop. If the field reads flat, move the breakpoints, never the hues.
EMITTED, NEVER PRINTED. THE TWO COLD STOPS EXIST ONLY AS LIGHT IN THE SIMULATION — NO DOM ELEMENT, ON ANY PAGE, MAY USE THEM AS INK.
The strict in-palette ramp — Steel #767E8C → Pulse → Pulse-lifted #A99BFF → Vapor — is still available and is one word per page: initField({ ramp: 'strict' }). It reads as a luminance ramp rather than a hue ramp: quieter, and closer to the original doctrine.
States
| State | Shape | What it says |
|---|---|---|
| S1 FIELD | Tilted 4-arm log spiral | The organization as found. Structure exists, but it is emergent. |
| S2 DISPERSE | Scattered box, dimmed | Entropy. The same parts, no system. |
| S3 CORE | Rippling torus | The engineered operating loop. Closed, continuous, breathing. |
| S4 RELEASE | Sparse drifting slab | Self-calibrating. It holds without the field driving it. |
Each surface runs its own program over these four states, and its own tilt and spin, so moving between pages reads as one instrument changing channels. The landing page runs all four across SYS.01–05; each service page runs two.
Departures
The field required three amendments to the rules above. They are in force on every surface except this one.
-
03 — Additive light is permitted
“No glows, no noise” exists to stop decorative glow being sprinkled on a flat page. Where emitted light is the entire medium, there is no flat page to protect.
-
04 — The field is the Pulse
Because the simulation carries Pulse continuously, no button, rule or hover state prints the accent — on a field surface it is light, not ink. The mark is the exception. The seam is specified in 03 as 2px Pulse with a 12px overhang, and it stays exactly that: the signature is the one place the accent is still printed. It draws on --pulse-mark, a token that exists only for the wordmark, the monogram and the glitch slice, because --pulse itself is remapped to Vapor everywhere else.
-
05 — The count is read, not typed
The hero states its particle count as live metadata. If the performance governor steps the field down, the number changes with it. Doctrine rule two — the only decoration is real information — taken to its conclusion.
